This is the best thing I’ve made in awhile and fairly easy relative to Suzanne Goin standards. Super flavorful, really good. Full meal in one dish.

Another really tasty Suzanne Goin recipe – this one’s actually pretty easy compared with her normal recipe. I’m going to combine this one with the Cook’s Illustrated way of grilling chicken to make my own take on this that will be even better.

Lessons Learned Grilling BS Chicken breasts is dangerous. These NEED to be brined before hand. Or just use bone-in because it’s so much better
Any Recipe Deviations?  I used canned chickpeas because I have never seen fresh garbanzos ever. I also used powdered Chile de Arbol in the butter, because I didn’t have dried peppers. Would’ve been better with dried peppers, but was still fine
Make Again?  Yes for sure
Changes Next Time? Make it like the Lemon-Rosemary grilled chicken from Cook’s Illustrated (i.e. baste the bone-in chicken with the butter as you cook it)

I’ve made this a bunch of times and it is awesome. Really moist, delicious chicken. Kind of a pain relative to grilled chicken, but definitely worth it. Going to start making my own flavored butter and using this technique to make my own recipes (like the Suzanne Goin recipe)

Green Chorizo Tacos with Kale and Potatoes

I was looking for something to do with a ham I had from our Meat CSA so decided to make green chorizo, which I had never heard of until watching the finals of Top Chef. It’s a Mexican version of this delicious sausage which made its name in Spain. As opposed to getting red flavor and color from paprika and cayenne, here we get green flavor and color from poblanos, serranos, and parsley. It is super tasty with great heat and it’s pretty easy to make. The fact that it’s from Alex Stupak of Empellon only made it a safer bet to try.

This is great in tacos, but it would also be really good with eggs.

New York Strip Steaks with Bobby Flay’s Steak Seasoning on Lotus Buns

I had leftover spice rub from the Bobby Flay Ribs and two New York Strip steaks from my meat CSA, so put this together. I also steamed some lotus buns from Chinatown and the combo of these 3 things was pretty fantastic. Would definitely do this again and will look for more opportunities to make sandwiches with these delicious buns.
