Sauteed Okra
I’ve never had okra before and I kept seeing it at Stanley’s so decided to give it a shot. I had read a bunch of recipes about it over the past few years, and everybody comments on how important it is to keep the okra from getting mushy. Similar to brussels sprouts back in the day, okra has a bad reputation basically because everybody used to boil them and that is disgusting. Here we sautee them and then just add olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice, and these are delicious with a really interesting texture. Will definitely make these often when they are in season.

Lessons Learned Okra is delicious as long as you cook it correctly. New veggie addition for the repertoire, for sure.
