Rice-Crusted Trout with Garum, Brown Butter, Hazelnuts and Mandarin

Emily’s Rating Chris’s Rating
8/10 8 / 10

Second recipe we ate from State Bird Provisions and second one that was very tasty and complex. The complexity of the flavors reminds me of Suzanne Goin’s recipes so far, which is high praise. This fish dish isn’t too hard, except for the Garum. But it uses a small amount and the garum keeps for months.

Honey Harissa Fish & Farro

Emily’s Rating Chris’s Rating
7.5/10 7.5 / 10

Easy, healthy grain salad from Smitten Kitchen. I used the same dressing to put on fish and pan seared it, and that was really easy and tasty too. Emily liked more than the Za’atar Tilapia.

Sunnyside Duck Egg Tacos with Green Chorizo Gravy

Emily’s Rating Chris’s Rating
8 / 10 8 / 10

This is super tasty breakfast item, though better with homemade biscuits than it is with tacos. The green chorizo gravy is pretty unbelievable – restaurant worthy.

Frozen Meyer Lemon Meringue Tart with Gingersnap Crust and Blueberry Compote

Emily’s Rating Chris’s Rating
8 / 10 9 / 10

I made this for Emily’s birthday dessert and it was fantastic. Easily the best lemon dessert I’ve had. However, it’s pretty time consuming with lots of different steps, but good for a special occasion. I didn’t have meyer lemons, so I used this substitute which was very good and very close to the meyer lemon taste.
